Jesus Knows All About You

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren. (Luke 22:31-32)

We have lots of acquaintances, but there are very few people who know us really well.  We draw near to people like parents, siblings, children, and best friends.  But even as much as those people might love us, there are things about us that even our closest loved ones don’t know.  Let’s be honest – we’d probably be embarrassed for another human being to know everything about us.  While it’s true that no other human knows all our secrets, it’s also true that Jesus does.

Just before His arrest, Jesus predicted that Peter would deny Him.  How did Jesus know that?  It’s simple – because Jesus was and is completely and fully God.  He is all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing.  He knew that Peter would act like a coward on the night of His arrest, leaving Jesus to fend for Himself.  Peter tried to deny that any such betrayal could ever happen, but Jesus reassured Peter that he would deny Him three times before the crowing of the morning rooster.

Here’s the awesome part – knowing that Peter would deny Him, Jesus loved and prayed for him anyway.  He knew that Peter would return to Him after his original act of cowardice, and Jesus prayed that he would strengthen the rest of the disciples upon his return.  We can sing “Jesus loves me” all day long, but we really don’t understand the magnitude of those words until we stop to consider that He loves us in spite of all our imperfections.  He knows all about you, and He loves you anyway.
